This page is to honor and remember the men of Rhone American . . .
our fathers, uncles, brothers, and loved ones . . . on their day . . . at the one place on earth where they are most remembered.
For keeping this place on earth so well ~ we want to thank the American Battle Monuments Commission,
along with the Rhone American Superintendent and his staff for the dignity and reverence the entire
ABMC team provides our fathers and the friends and loved ones who visit them.
COL David K. Chapman, Senior Defense Attache, U.S. Embassy, Paris, and COL Eric Zimmerman,
US European Command J2X ~ ready to present the AWON Wreath at Memorial Day 2014.
The AWON Wreath and Banners were presented by COL Chapman and his daughter Nola,
and by COL Zimmerman and his son Jackson.
Nola tends lovoingly to a wreath detail.
The Memorial Day Wreath and Banner 2014 remembered ten men by name ~
and so many others who died in the cause of freedom.
The Memorial Day Wreath and Banner 2012 remembered the same ten men ~
and so many others who died in the cause of freedom ~ to whom we owe so much.
We want to thank the sons and daughters, other family, and the next of kin of the men of Rhone American for contributing over
the years to our annual Memorial Day remembrances ~ including wreaths like the one above and banners like the ones below ~
that remember these men by name. With special thanks to those who have been able to travel to be on hand to represent
so many of us who couldn't be there.
Respectfully,
Vic Muller
As you may know, cautions related to the Covid-19 virus caused the American Battle Monuments Commission
to close all ABMC overseas cemeteries to the public until further notice. But Memorial Day remembrances are happening
regardless, not just at our overseas cemeteries, but right here, right now, as we remember all who died in the cause of
freedom ~ including the 10 AWON men of Rhone.
Vic Muller is one of just six AWON overseas coordinators who has been with the program since the beginning.
Vic remembers everyone at Rhone, but especially his Brother, PFC Joesph Muller, KIA 26 Feb 45, Biersdorf, Germany.
The remarkable thing about Vic is that his brother Joe is buried at Luxembourg. He Coordinated Rhone because it needed to be done!
It's with an especially heavy heart that Jeanne Rhinehart and I recently learned of Vic Muller's passing.
"We'll take good care of Rhone, Vic ~ and we can only hope that we can do it anywhere NEAR as well as you always did!"
